Diadora is not new to the athletic market, with a rich history in sports footwear. Recently, they have been making strides into the running market. I’ve been running in their road shoes for some time, and I can say they are among my favorites—truly great shoes. So, when I had the opportunity to try out Diadora’s first trail shoe, the Equipe Sestriere-XT, I was excited.

First Impressions: The Equipe Sestriere-XT is Diadora’s inaugural trail running shoe, and it initially felt a bit stiff and heavy on the first run. These were my immediate observations, but after a few miles I realized how responsive and stable they are. They offer excellent cushioning, great responsiveness, and a stable, comfortable ride.

Performance and Fit: These shoes are fantastic for runners new to trail running. They provide solid protection, making them equally suitable for hiking. The design and construction ensure that your feet are well-protected, making the Equipe Sestriere-XT a great partner for beginners exploring the trails. They are ideal for daily trail running and versatile enough for various terrains. If you’re looking for stability, durability, and everyday comfort, these shoes are a good match. They also perform well for those who enjoy hiking uphill and running downhill. Due to a bit heavy weight they might not be ideal for races, but great for long runs-hikes in pretty rocky terrains as they have great layer of foam and basically you won’t. Be able to feel the rocks under your feet.

Technical Details:

  • Stack Height: 32 mm heel / 27 mm forefoot
  • Terrains: grass, gravel, mud, and wet rocks

Foam and Outsole Details: The midsole uses Diadora’s DD Anima foam, a key feature borrowed from their successful road shoes. The same forum in my favorite road shoes from Diadora. This foam is so great mix of responsiveness and cushioning. This foam provides a balanced combination of cushioning and responsiveness, which is essential for comfort over long distances on uneven terrain. The Equipe Sestriere-XT’s midsole has been toughened to offer more support on natural surfaces, making it both soft underfoot and stable during runs.

The outsole is designed with durability and grip in mind. It features a combination of Duratech 5000 rubber and softer compounds to enhance traction across various surfaces, such as grass, gravel, mud, and wet rocks. This multi-surface capability makes the shoe reliable and well-suited for both light and technical trails.

Conclusion: The Diadora Equipe Sestriere-XT is a great choice for anyone starting trail running or those who need a reliable pair for hiking and running on various terrains. They offer a balanced mix of cushioning, stability, and grip, making them versatile trail partners. Plus, their stylish look is a bonus for those who care about aesthetics as much as performance. I chose them for long runs on difficult and thehnical terrain’s, for hikes and just wear in the city as well.
