Finding the Perfect Running Shorts

Hi, hello my dear followers! This post is all about running shorts. We’re all familiar with the challenge of finding the perfect shorts for running, considering our diverse preferences. Some of us lean towards super short shorts, while others prefer longer versions, and the options are endless.

Personally, I’ve always leaned towards something around 6 to 9 inches. With my height being 5’5″, anything below 8 inches tends to feel a bit too long. I’m currently not a fan of high compression or overly thick materials. I prefer something that’s barely noticeable when I’m wearing it. While sweat marks don’t bother me, I understand they’re a concern for many. The good news is that there are shorts available that don’t show these marks at all.

I’m a big fan of side pockets – they’re a must-have for me, and I believe they should be a staple for all runners. Durability is another aspect I’m a strong advocate for. Quality matters, especially when it comes to workout gear.

I hope my selections resonate with you all and that you find them enjoyable. Happy running

  1. SALOMON, SHORTNEY

https://www.salomon.com/en-us/shop/product/shortney-lc12611.html#color=76585

These shorts are super cool, but for me they are a bit thin so I use under shorts with pockets. As I need pocket for phone and prefer wear under shorts instead of underwear.

  1. Lululemon, Nulux Road to Trail High-Rise Short 4″

This is a bit weird model from Lulu. I really like waist area, but under shorts can be a bit longer especially for trails. They riding up like crazy.

  1. Lululemon, SenseKnit Running High-Rise Short 8″

https://shop.lululemon.com/p/women-shorts/SenseKnit-Running-High-Rise-Short-8/_/prod11490008?color=36744

Love the colors and material, but they need side pockets for sure. Also what I love about material, it is not only super soft but you can put it on on wet body without difficulties.

  1. The North Face, TNF X OC Women’s 9″ Biker Short

Very fancy collaboration, cool color. By the way bike shorts from TNF not bad at all.

  1. District Vision, TomTom Half Tights

https://www.districtvision.com/products/tomtom-half-tights-ocean-blue

Mens shorts, but I do like pockets, and material.

  1. Outdoor Voices, LightSpeed 3″ Short

Not my style, but waist area is very flattering, also back pocket very comfortable and shorts pretty wide especially cool when you have athletics legs.

  1. Nike, Nike Go

Cool pockets, very high compression, nice for races, I just do not really like waist area in high waisted models. They chafing my whole waist and this is very painful. But mid waist fits and feels much better. In general very cool running shorts with great material and nice length.

  1. Bandit, STAMINA™ 5″

Love the brand and their passion, shorts have great fit, the different inseams, colors. Nice pockets. In general I like everything, just feels like shorts a bit thick maybe and dry out very slow, also maybe they need a bit more compression.

Plus my lately favorite

  1. Patagonia, Women’s Maipo Shorts – 8″

https://www.patagonia.com/product/womens-maipo-active-shorts-8-inch/195699406278.html

What I like about them:

  • Material is so soft
  • Very light compression
  • Right length, not too short
  • Can not feel them while running
  • They do not ride up or waist do not ride down
  • Pockets

What I do not like:

  • Material is thin and you will see pillings after couple of runs
  • Price a bit high for quality
  • The area between legs must be fixed, as the seams a bit uncomfortable while running
  • I do not care, but people do: sweat marks.
  1. Arcteryx, ESSENT HIGH-RISE SHORT 8″ WOMEN’S

What I like about them:

  • They are thin and do no have high compression
  • Pockets on each leg and on the back
  • Right length, not too short
  • Material is great

What I do not like:

  • For now I really do like them so much
  1. District Vision, 7in Recycled Pocketed Half Tights (Maya)

https://www.districtvision.com/products/7in-recycled-pocketed-half-tights-2

What I like about them:

  • material is very different from other brands, it is very flattering to your back side and do not show any bumps
  • Fit
  • Pockets
  • Colors

What I do not like:

  • Price a bit high
  • They do not have side pockets, and I really need them.
  1. Nike, Nike Universa

https://www.nike.com/t/universa-womens-medium-support-high-waisted-8-biker-shorts-with-pockets-hl8WPk/DQ5994-309

Compare with the Nike Go they look almost the same, but they have some differences. Fo now I like Universa more than Go, as they are less compressive, softer. Also the major problem with Nike Go for me – waist area. After running in them I have chafing around my whole waist. Seems like they (GO) too thick and compressive. Also les look better in less compressive material.

One more detail, you can not see sweat marks like at all.

I hope you will enjoy the rest of the summer.
